Tolltex, Inc. builds custom Island Traffic Signals in a variety of colors, sizes, and configurations. The yellow, two-head Island Traffic Signals shown here were provided by Tolltex to support the refurbishment of the New Jersey Garden State Parkway’s Barnegat Main Line toll plaza. These signals were built using a pair of cast aluminum heads, a three foot high signal pole, glass lenses, a flashing red violation beacon, and a violation alarm bell. For this project, the anchor bolts were set into the concrete islands during construction thereby eliminating the need to drill the concrete as part of installation.

Traffic signals can be provided in custom colors and in different configurations. Shown here is a 2-head yellow signal featuring polycarbonate head on the top and an aluminum head on the bottom. The violation alarm is based on a buzzer rather than a bell.

For 2-head units, terminal connections are made in the lower head. For 3-head units, terminal connections are made in the center head.

As the image shows, the doors are hinged, as are the reflectors which hold the lamps. Lenses are gasketed and the cables feed up the pole where connections are made on the terminal strip located in the lower head.

Traffic Heads:

Modular: One, two or three head units can be provided. Additional heads may be added later if applications require change.

Lenses: 8" polycarbonate with custom lettering. Lenses are gasketed and easily replaced.

Colors: Custom colors available for aluminum heads. Polycarbonate heads are available in Yellow, Green, or Black. Polycarbonate color is solid through the material, which eliminates scratches or dings in paint.

Beacon: Flashing incandescent mounted on top of traffic head assembly. 360 degree view bulbs are standard parts and easily replaced from the top of the unit.

Alarms: Internal Buzzer as part of beacon or external rear-mount continuous ring bell.
